Formal Lecturing

Formal lecturing is often a requirement as your academic career progresses. Getting some experience of formal lecturing early in your career can be a fantastic step towards your first academic role - especially if this role is likely to have a high teaching load.

Within the Faculty there may be opportunities for becoming involved in delivering teaching to both undergraduate and postgraduate students (postgraduate taught Masters). These will be in the form of practicals, tutorials, lectures etc and are a great chance to get some early experience of teaching university students. If you're interested in engaging in formal lecturing within the university, discuss this with your PI and they will be able to advise you on the best way to proceed further.

OD&PL also run an online, self-paced course through Minerva called "Foundations in Teaching". This should equip you with the information to help you get started in teaching. You can register for access here.
