ABOUT

This FBS Postdoctoral Association has been set up in response to meeting the needs of our early career researchers, specifically postdoctoral researchers in the Faculty. Postdoctoral researchers are a fundamental component of our research and we in the Faculty are committed to recognising the value of that community and in helping every researcher realise their potential, whatever career path they wish to pursue.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to support our early career researches in every aspect of their research career and career development, to help to develop the skills necessary to establish themselves in their future career paths.

AIMS

The aims of the FBS Postdoctoral Researcher Website are to …

  • Give clear guidance on what is expected of you as a postdoctoral researcher within the Faculty and what you can expect in the way of support from the Faculty.
  • Provide information on training and career development opportunities within the Faculty.
  • Support and offer guidance on funding applications ranging from small conference grants to fellowships aimed at gaining research independence.
  • Provide information on public engagement and teaching opportunities within the Faculty.
  • Inform postdoctoral researchers of seminars and social events happening across the faculty.

FBS Postdoctoral Association (FBSPA)

The FBSPA aims to:

engender community and make sure people are able to integrate comfortably into the postdoc community.
make sure postdocs are well represented in terms of training and support for their career.
represent the concerns and challenges of the postdoc community at the faculty level.

The committee meets monthly to discuss issues and ideas, so please do talk to them about what you would like to see happening. We aim to always have at least two representatives from each school.
