Wellbeing Room
This facility is located in Irene Manton Room 5.94A and is an output from a Faculty Athena Swan initiative in line with other similar facilities across campus.
The primary purpose of the room is to facilitate:
- Feeding babies (including breastfeeding)
- Storage of and / or expressing breast milk
- Rest for pregnancy related, disability purposes or health or medical conditions
- Taking medication
The room is available to staff, students, partners and visitors.
Due to the particular requirements of breastfeeding and / or expressing milk and the need to respect an individual's privacy, this room is unable to be used for the observation of faith practices.
Facilities within the room include a fridge, comfortable seating and a fan heater.
For the security of the room and its contents, access to the room will be upon request via a secure online calendar facility (in progress). A fob will be available for collection from the Student Education Services reception or alternatively via the Faculty HR Office during out of reception hours. Whilst the diary is being set up, please contact Laura Hastings x33409 or Craig Jones x32250 directly to arrange access.
It is envisaged that this arrangement for access to the room will be suitable for most people’s needs but should this not be the case, please contact Bridget Millar, HR Manager in the first instance for alternative arrangements.
Please also be aware that the University campus is entirely breastfeeding friendly and there are no restrictions on bottle or breastfeeding at the University. In addition to the FBS facility, there are other spaces specifically available for bottle or breastfeeding which can be found on the Equality Policy Unit website:
